What Is This All About ?

The writers gathered here have adopted one of the 48 lions that appeared in "The Lions Of Lyon" series on the writing blog Shameless Words. By adopting a lion, the writers have become a member of this new writing circle. The lions have been posted in the sidebars of the writers' individual blogs, accompanied by a poem or piece of prose. Of course, it is hoped that the strength, luck and prestige of these mighty beasts will rub off on their owners! (Keep scrolling down to see the full listings of all members and their lions).

Lion 31 - The Hidden Side Of A Leaf

Lion 31:

Louis.

Artist behind the lion:

Simon de Saint-Matin (French sculptor).

Adoptive Writer:

Dewey at The Hidden Side Of A Leaf.

Blog Description:

If anyone is looking for a good example of how a books blog should be produced, then this is the place to come. Dewey (a woman) dazzles us with comprehensive, thoughtful reviews of books. She spices everything up with posts on interesting anecdotes and flashes of interest. The passion about books shines through here and Dewey has certainly created a space that is very hard to leave!

Poem or piece of prose inspired by the lion:

Louis: Three Haiku

He adores cooking;
he wears recipes on his
smooth and pale gold coat.

He travels often;
he has some small brown maps on
his beautiful fur.

He has two war wounds;
pretenders to the throne dare
the king to fight them.

Louis: Trois Haiku

Il aime cuisiner;
il porte des recettes sur son
pelage pâle et lisse.

Il voyage souvent;
il a des petites cartes brunes
sur sa belle fourrure.

Il a deux blessures
de guerre; le roi doit battre des
prétendants au trône.

Dewey, you make your lion proud. I'm sure Louis is pleased to know he's the only one here (so far, at least) to have inspired his human to write in two languages. How is it that you are fluent in French? Have you spent time in France?

Dewey said...

To tell you the truth, Bonnie, I keep expecting some francophone to look at my poem and point out some glaring error to prove just how fluent I'm not!

Hi there,
Things looking great here. You need to send through a poem/prose piece of 48 words or under if you want to be eligible for the writing circle contest. Judging starts this Wednesday. Check out the circle site. Email me or post your piece into the comments section of your listing. :)

Here is the cut down English version for the contest. I'm sorry I trusted a word count tool when I should have counted by hand!
